How To Help My Adult Son With Depression And Anxiety?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

My wife and me are trying for many years
to help our 35 years old son with depression, anxiety and social anxiety but so far no any luck.
He doesn't want to see any type of doctor or specialist and probably he doesn't want to be diagnosed at all. Our main concern is how to help him or how to convince him to take care about his hygien and some physical activity? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you so much!

Motherhood And Depression/dysthymia
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm curious how mothers deal with depression/dysthymia whilst being a mom. Do you sometimes wish you'd have waited for 'better times' or does motherhood helps because of the constant love? In short, what is your overall experience with motherhood and dealing with depression/dysthymia?

When All Is Lost. . .
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I need to find the motivation to keep going but I can't. After telling myself for 13 years that things could get better if i worked hard at it, which I have, the overwhelming evidence to the contrary has absolutely killed my will to keep trying. I had a new gp, someone that i was told had extra experience working with the mentally ill, i was hoping for a fresh set of eyes on the situation. Yesterday she told me to find a new gp. Today i could not bare the thought of meeting my new psychiatrist… read more

How Do I Overcome Depression When It Is So Closely Tied To My Lifelong Lack Of Self-esteem And Self Confidence?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

My self-esteem and self confidence have never been high, but there are times when they go even lower. I've finally figured out that my worst depressive periods are effectively a direct result of circumstances in which my self-esteem takes a hit. I find myself failing in relationships, career, pretty well anything important to me, and those external markers wreak havoc with my sense of self. I know I should be able to generate self-esteem and confidence internally and not based on externals… read more

How Do You Stay Motivated When You Are Feeling Low?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

A few months ago, I started exercising three or four times a week doing activities that I enjoyed, including swimming and yoga. This was partially to counteract the weight I have gained since starting a new job in a sweet-making factory, but also because I have heard many times that exercise can be good for depression
All was well for the first couple of months, but recently I have found myself lacking motivation and not wanting to exercise at all. I was beginning to feel/see the benefits and… read more

What Causes Depression?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I don't consider feeling sad about something bad that happened depression. That is a normal response to something. To me depression is feeling bad when I don't really have a reason to. Or feeling too bad about something that happened. Too bad for too long.

What causes that? Why do I react differently than other people?
