How Do I Overcome Depression When It Is So Closely Tied To My Lifelong Lack Of Self-esteem And Self Confidence?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

My self-esteem and self confidence have never been high, but there are times when they go even lower. I've finally figured out that my worst depressive periods are effectively a direct result of circumstances in which my self-esteem takes a hit. I find myself failing in relationships, career, pretty well anything important to me, and those external markers wreak havoc with my sense of self. I know I should be able to generate self-esteem and confidence internally and not based on externals… read more

Getting A Job While Fighting Depression
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello everyone! I just got through the worst of a severe depressive episode, but I still deal with moderate symptoms. My issue is being employed always increased my self-esteem (which is zero right now) but I fear going back to work due to low self-confidence. I quit a job 1 1/2 years ago and want to return but I'm afraid I'll relapse and have to quit. On the other hand a job would possibly improve my self-esteem and my depression. I am a nurse. Any advice you employed folks dealing with… read more

Addiction And Depression? **PLEASE Do NOT Read If You Are Triggered By Talk Of Addiction Or Alcohol.
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know that you shouldnt medicate with alcohol and drugs. A little bit of my story is I broke my ankle when I was 14 and I was never told that I would have pain as bad as it was when I was finally able to walk. They said the pain would be light and would go away which was a lie. They had to put a metal plate and pins in. It would throb and swell four months after the surgery. Therapy did not help at all. except the part where I was able to ice it. After six months I was just so tired of the… read more
