Members opened up about how hard it can be to ask for help when feeling seriously depressed, with many sharing that starting with just one trusted person, like a close friend, sibling, or spouse, can make a real difference. Several members described being specific about what is wrong in the moment rather than keeping things vague, which helps loved ones know how to offer support. A recurring theme was the fear of being a burden and feeling alone, met with warm reassurance from the community that reaching out, even to this group, is a brave and worthwhile first step.

I only open up to a few people when I'm really in need of help: my husband, my mother, and my best friend. They're all pretty good at talking me through the darkness. I tell them the specific thing that's wrong in the moment rather than generalizing it, it gives them a starting point of how they can help

I get paid monthly, & my sister is my payee, & she always takes more than her share, so I hardly have any money to take care of myself, I want this payee to see my money is managed correctly every month so I actually have something to live on.

Start with someone you trust. Tell them you are feeling depressed and maybe why if you know. They may ask how they can help, dont be afraid to tell them. Reach out. It can be the beginning of getting help
