I stopped alcohol(not completely) thc and vaping. I drank daily in 2018 and I started drinking less through 2020. I got it down to once a week or less. I was drinking 100proof vodka. I started having to drink so much id either blackout or get angry. The whole reason I was drinking was to feel better. I now know that was a mistake. But that defeated the purpose so at that point I was ready to quit anyway and thankfully that was easy. I drink beer occasionally and I feel buzzed but nothing else.t… read more

How do withdrawal experiences differ when quitting alcohol, THC, and vaping?

Withdrawal experiences vary significantly depending on the substance you're stopping. Each one affects your body differently, and the symptoms can range from uncomfortable to potentially dangerous.

Alcohol withdrawal can be the most serious. If you've been drinking regularly, stopping suddenly can cause physical symptoms that may become a medical emergency.

Common alcohol withdrawal symptoms include:
* Sweating
* Nausea
* High blood pressure and rapid heartbeat
* Flu-like symptoms
* Anxiety and shakiness

In severe cases, alcohol withdrawal can lead to seizures or delirium tremens (a dangerous state of confusion and agitation). This is why it's crucial to seek medical help before trying to quit on your own, especially if you've been drinking heavily or for a long time.

THC and vaping withdrawal aren't specifically detailed in the search results, but generally these substances don't carry the same medical risks as alcohol withdrawal. However, you may still experience psychological symptoms like irritability, trouble sleeping, or mood changes.

If you're dealing with depression alongside substance use, the withdrawal process can feel even more challenging. Your mood symptoms might temporarily worsen during this transition.

The safest approach is working with your healthcare team to create a plan that addresses all substances you're using. They can offer supervised support and potentially medication to ease withdrawal symptoms safely.

There is wisdom in asking your md. The frank answer to your question is no but the related answer is yes. Here is why. I went cold turkey on effecor. Big mistake. It's as close to an addiction as I ever want to be. It MUST be tapered with MD, preferably with psychiatrist. Neurochemistry is sort of their expertise so booze might well fall into that. Delirium tremens is no joke so be sure that's being addressed in terms of avoiding it.

I felt the power of nicotine once when I chewed tobacco for about two weeks. Wife was unhappy I started that habit so I quit but I felt the withdrawal and was startled. I didn't use it long enough to have any real ramifications.

Drinking lots of booze often depletes certain nutrients, especially vitamin B12 that is essential for brain function, folate, thiamine, A and B6.

A daily vitamin might correct this but a chemistry panel blood draw by MD will be definitive. Either way, a multivitamin probably won't hurt. I know zero about vaping except it is a chemistry cocktail.

All this is what you'd call barber shop advice. Every human is different so running any supplement, herb food, etc by your doc is important. This is even more important since you have certain medical issues to account for. You wouldn't go running out to buy insulin because someone said you need it. Same with addressing medical and psychiatric issues.
