I stopped alcohol(not completely) thc and vaping. I drank daily in 2018 and I started drinking less through 2020. I got it down to once a week or less. I was drinking 100proof vodka. I started having to drink so much id either blackout or get angry. The whole reason I was drinking was to feel better. I now know that was a mistake. But that defeated the purpose so at that point I was ready to quit anyway and thankfully that was easy. I drink beer occasionally and I feel buzzed but nothing else.t… read more

Yes. Breaking long habits takes a day by day, moment by moment effort. I'm reading a book called "Atomic Habits" by James Clear which is helping in my understanding to abandon bad habits and reinforce or create good habits each day, 1% at a time. You should get it and read it. It also has a workbook by Jimmy Spears. You didn't get where you are in a day so moving away from it will not take a day either.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member it seems like smoking at a young age was pretty common back in the day
I'm not saying your old but my family members started smoking at a very young age. I started at 15 and smoked till I was 19 I think it was because it waa something i wasnt supposed to do. I was only smoking two cigarettes a day so it waa pretry easy for me to quit. Have you asked your doctor for something to ease cravings? I imagine you have. I'm stuck nicotine pouches. Ugh I wish i never used those. Thank u for ur reply

@A MyDepressionTeam Member I know what you mean about vodka but mine was only Friday - Sunday and maybe a little through the week now I really can’t do shots or really drink it at all and I think it’s because of all meds. Now my addiction that has been with me since I started at 10 yo and grabbed me and holds me tight now is cigarettes, I can’t quit and I have tried many and would get down to 5-6 a day but then start back smoking more than I had before and even my, he has never smoked, would the amount. I am old and COPD SS pays for lung X-rays every year now to see if I have cancer but so far it is emphysema and my dad did have lung cancer also father in law but I still can’t quit.
I understand addictions very well and feel for anyone that one of any kind
Hugs and sunshine coming your way
