Many community members connected deeply over the question of feeling immature when relying on others financially and emotionally due to health challenges. Several members shared feelings of guilt, failure, and lost purpose, with some depending on spouses or parents for financial support while navigating disability applications and worsening health. A recurring theme was the importance of self-compassion, with members reminding each other that needing help does not equal weakness and that true support comes from those who show up unconditionally.

I never really feel immature about my situation. I feel more like a failure. I haven’t worked since 2018 because the business closed. I was struggling long before that but I just did what I had to to get by. After I exhausted unemployment I had to ask my parents for help. I’ve never had a husband and I always worked to raise three girls alone. I knew before my job ended that I probably wouldn’t find another one to put up with me. My health problems just escalated until finally I applied for disability, which luckily I got the first time. So no I don’t feel immature I feel I wasn’t dealt the best hand but I’m trying to play it the best I can and it’s been a rollercoaster. One day at a time!
