How Do You Cope With Depression Over The Holidays?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

My depression has been getting worse lately and I was starting to get concerned, than I realized that the holidays are coming up. This happens every year. Only this time I realized it and instead of wondering why I am so depressed. I think I need to have a different approach to this problem. Do any of you have any tricks or advice on how to get through this time of year?

https://www.parliament.nz/en/pb/petitions/docum...

After having major problems in 2017 changing from Efexor-XR to Enlafax-XR, we want to try and get the process around funding of alternate brands of medication changed to make it less restrictive.

Please help by signing and sharing this petition.

There is also a Facebook page for people who have been affected by this - "ENLAFAX - problems with medication brand change NZ" please join if you have been or know of someone who was.

Holiday Depression
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I’ve read some articles about people who are little more depressed during the holidays than any other time in the year. Me personally I do feel depression hits me little harder specifically on holidays like thanksgiving and Christmas but just wondering if people feel the same way ?

Do Holidays Bring You Down?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I just had a birthday last month and didn’t have my brother or sister with me so that brought me down. It is getting close to Thanksgiving and it will be just hubby, me our children and grandchildren and great grand and that brings me down. Ok so then time to put up tree that used to take me part of a day but now because of health it takes parts of many days and that brings me down. Then of course Christmas Eve and Christmas with immediate family no longer any of extended loved ones so guess… read more

They can if you allow yourself to get too involved with the preparations and planning. Don't bite off more than you can chew. Find ways to enjoy the holidays. What is it you like most about holidays?

New Zealand Petition For Medication Brand Change
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello,
Helen has started a petition to try and get our Government to take notice and start funding Effexor-XR again, Enlafax (the generic medication) has badly affected a lot of people but trying to get anything done about it is near impossible. Being on Effexor-XR is now very expensive as it is no longer funded at all, and many people with mental illness are on limited income.
Please sign and share this petition.
Thank you.

Advice Please !!!!
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Just started a new part time job and so far I do not like it. Barely any training, very stressful and I feel they expect too much of me. I was a temp at another location and had half the responsibilites there. I was much more happier as a temp. I hate having to clock in and out every day, hate all these Corporate emails about nonsense, having to do all these elearning stuff in a timely manner, completing an employee appraisal evauation, etc. all this stuff that comes with being an employee… read more

Mirena IUD And Depression (for The Ladies)
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi People,

So I am curious, I have now had a IUD in for coming up 10 years (well technically this current one is my 2nd one) and I have been thinking I am going to need to have it removed next year - this causes me major fear as the first and second ones were both inserted under general anesthetic (I also had laparoscopies at the time), I have also never given birth and I am terrified about the pain of having it removed.

Also on doing a bit of reading this evening I have started to wonder if… read more

I think you should talk to a nurse or your doctor about your anxiety regarding this . Your fears may be unfounded and I am sure they will do what they can to make you comfortable.

Diagnosis
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi, anyone in South Africa?

As I look at the symptoms, I believe I might have depression, I would like to know what I can do to start off with the treatment process. How do I get a diagnosis? I am unemployed currently, do not have money for to see a doctor, no medical aid, can I go to the clinic? Its difficult to talk to family and friends as I feel they would just advice that I should pray on it and it will all become better. Thank you for your time.
