Does anybody have any experience with ect? I may be having this procedure done and I'm kinda scared. Any info would be appreciated.
I've heard good things about this. Try to stay hopeful you're getting good resources to help.
Hello...I had ECT many years ago. While it DID help with my depression, I've paid a huge price. My long term memory is pretty well shot and I have big-time problems with my short term memory. Unfortunately, the memories I have from long ago are those that gave me the most emotional pain. I find now that I lose days and sometimes whole weeks. It's very frustrating. I now try to journal everyday -- even if it's only to recount what I did that day, however mundane. I can't say if ECT will always affect the memory, but it IS an individual choice. I pray your experience will be positive and that you find relief without long lasting effects. With love and BIG hugs, Mimi
@A MyDepressionTeam Member If you go to Q & A and pick ECT you will get a lot of responses. I've had ECT (18 years ago) do you have any questions I can answer? It *is* a scarey procedure....are they putting you in the hospital before it? BUT it works!
I wanted ECT but they said it would not be for me
Years ago I had it and it worked
Hi...I tried the ECT years ago. I’ve heard it helps a lot of people. But I didn’t have any luck with it. The only thing to be a little scared on is when you wake up after your treatment. I was really confused and I had short term memory loss. That’s normal. If you need to talk anymore, I’m here. Lisa
