Sometimes anxiety can help with leaving a bad situation. So wondered if same with depression...
There is good anxiety whish makes you avoid a dangerous situation and harmful anxiety which is fear from every thing
But I don’t think there is a good depression, depression is being low and nothing comes from that
Hi there,
It's difficult to see the positives of depression and I wouldn't necessarily call them perks but I think that depression does have some characteristics that enable us to look at life differently:
1) Whilst it can be debilitating as all hell, depression has given me the ability to write. I am mostly fuelled by my dark moods when I write and I use it as a way to not only express myself but to process what is happening in my mind on these days -- I believe most writers do.
2) Depression makes us a little less judgemental and more empathetic and understanding to the troubles that others might be facing, although I think humans are naturally flawed with a judgemental quality nonetheless, it is what it is.
3) Depression helps us to introspect -- or at least it helps me with my introspection. As horrible as it is, my depression has given me many of my best breakthrough moments even if it meant I had to fall into a deep sense of self-hatred before I could have my breakthroughs, they have happened nonetheless.
I guess it depends on the individual person but I do believe that depression isn't necessarily only doom and gloom -- when viewed in its entirety depression is somewhat of a superpower.
