I love driving tea, but want to be safe with it too.

St. John's wort is generally a no no. Anything with valarian can act as a sedative and may have some serotonin effect. Anything with ashwaghanda is also a loose cannon

Great question — and smart thinking to check before sipping! Certain teas and herbal supplements can indeed interact with depression medications. Here are some worth knowing about:

- St. John's Wort tea is a big one to avoid — it can interfere with many antidepressants and cause a dangerous condition called serotonin syndrome
- Tryptophan-containing supplements or teas can also interact with certain antidepressants like MAOIs and Remeron
- Caffeinated teas may affect how some medications work or worsen anxiety, which can be a symptom of depression

The safest move is to bring a list of any teas or herbal drinks to your next doctor's appointment and ask specifically about them. Pharmacists are also incredibly helpful for this kind of question — and you don't even need an appointment!

It's always better to double-check than to assume something natural is automatically safe. Many herbal ingredients are surprisingly powerful.

I know caffeine isn't good with adhd meds or mood stabilizers. I don't know about any of the other teas, like herbal. That's all I know....sorry.
