It's really worth exploring this with a doctor, especially since depression and ADHD can sometimes overlap or even be mistaken for one another. A proper evaluation is the best way to know for sure.

Some common signs of ADHD in adults include:

- Impulsivity (acting without thinking)
- Disorganized thinking
- Restlessness or fidgeting
- Difficulty staying focused or following through on tasks
- Trouble managing time One key thing doctors look for is whether symptoms have been present since early in life (usually before age 12) and whether they've stayed fairly consistent over time — rather than coming and going in episodes.

Getting the right diagnosis can sometimes take more than one evaluation. If a diagnosis doesn't feel quite right, it's completely reasonable to ask questions or seek a second opinion from a psychiatrist or psychologist.

Starting with a primary care doctor is a great first step — they can refer to the right specialist from there.
