In 6 months I have lost 3 of my beloved dogs and one of my cats. Two of my dogs died back to back in March , then in July my cat Wesley and now my dog Mackey.

That is an absolutely heartbreaking amount of loss to carry in such a short time. Losing a pet is a profound grief β€” and losing four of them, one after another, is just devastating. There are no words that truly cover it.

Grief like this can hit especially hard when you're already managing depression. The sadness, exhaustion, and feelings of hopelessness that come with loss can intensify depression symptoms, making everything feel heavier.

Being gentle with yourself right now really matters. A few things that may help:

- Let yourself grieve fully β€” there's no "right" timeline for this
- Lean on people who understand how deep the bond with a pet can be
- Talk to your doctor or therapist if the grief feels unmanageable or your depression symptoms are worsening
- Simple self-care like eating, resting, and short walks can quietly support your mood

If at any point things feel truly overwhelming or you're having thoughts of self-harm, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.

Two of your dogs in March, Wesley in July, and now Mackey β€” that's so much love, and so much loss. Honoring how much they meant to you is completely valid. 🐾
