I use my journals to write everything down... prescriptions, thoughts, to-do lists, quotes to keep, triggers, and symptoms (for later discussion with your mental health professional)

I actually decorate each page of the journal with stickers and washi tape. Every page is different.

On good days, write about your good day and why you liked it.
On bad days, read what you wrote!

Members enthusiastically shared their journaling habits in response to a question about using journals for mental health, with many describing how writing helps them process emotions, track symptoms, and better understand themselves. Several members shared creative approaches like decorating pages with washi tape, stickers, rubber stamps, and doodles, while others described different journal types including gratitude logs, mood trackers, dream journals, and free writing. A recurring theme was that journaling looks different for everyone, and whether typed or handwritten, simple or decorated, the practice brings comfort, self-discovery, and healing.

I write many forms of journals: gratitude, feelings, mental health packet, & daily free writing.

These journals help me to learn about myself & my healing journey.

I hand-decorate some & buy already decorated ones both.

Donna,
Make anything you have work. It makes it fun. Your mention of doodling reminds me that I do that with words, and I also have stencils. I love just clearing off my bed and sitting up to do my graphics, if you will.
The point is to make a dull job interesting, and if we feel so rewarded by our little creative spark!

I've actually begun to use MDT here as a journaling medium; I may not share every single detail of what's going on in the miasma of my mind, but I like sharing with everyone and it's a creative outlet.
