When someone says to me, “I need help with my depression,” the first thing I want them to know is this: don’t try to carry it alone. You need help and I am so glad you have asked.
Depression is a liar. It tells us nothing will help, that we’re a burden, and that things will never get better. None of those things are true. Not one of them!
You need to start small. Really small. Try drinking a glass of water. Taking a shower. Stepping outside for five minutes. Text one trusted person it doesn’t have to be me and tell them you’re struggling. Small steps count when you’re climbing a mountain and you can do it.
Please, please reach out to a doctor, therapist, pastor, trusted friend, or crisis line if you’re in danger! Asking for help isn’t weakness—it’s courage!
Some days surviving depression looks less like conquering the world and more like keeping yourself fed, hydrated, and alive. That’s not failure; that’s winning today’s battle.
And if all you accomplished today was getting out of bed and keeping your heart beating, congratulations—you’ve already done something depression hoped you wouldn’t.
Remember there are people who care and will step up to listen and help if they know.
I hope this helps.
Pam
Take 1 day at a time. They won't all be bad. Be thankful for the good ones. See your therapist often and take your medicine and ask God to help you
