Yes, side effects from depression medications are very real and something many people experience. It's really tough when the very thing meant to help you ends up causing other problems — that's a lot to deal with, and it makes complete sense to feel frustrated.

Many MyDepressionTeam members have shared similar frustrations. One member wrote: "I've been on different antidepressants for years. All of them have caused me to put on weight, which causes more depression and not liking myself." Common side effects people report from antidepressants include:

- Nausea
- Weight gain
- Fatigue or drowsiness
- Dry mouth
- Dizziness
- Insomnia
- Reduced sex drive
- Anxiety or restlessness

It's really important to speak openly with your doctor about what you're experiencing. They can help adjust your treatment plan — whether that means changing the dosage, switching medications, or exploring other options. No one should have to just push through serious side effects alone.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member, have you heard of medication-induced Parkinson's? Some meds/combinations can mimic Parkinsonian symptoms, but it's not the actual disease. Maybe talk to your PCP to see if it can be confirmed and your treatment modified so you don't experience that hell?

@A MyDepressionTeam Member, hi! Don't mean to poke my nose in where it's not wanted or belongs, but I was diagnosed with benign essential tremor in both hands and have been taking Primidone with excellent results for the longest time. Maybe have your doctor refer you to a neurologist to be tested, diagnosed and treated? If you're taking medication for depression/anxiety, I've never noted any negative interactions taking it.

Best wishes!
