@A MyDepressionTeam Member. I just thought of something to consider about depression that's kind of like a Zen thing:

How long can the sun stay shining?

(Author's note: Medical marijuana is a wonderful thing...)

The AI's not wrong; depressive episodes can last days and days, but the symptoms are different, not so much for each person, but for each person's individual daily emotional roller-coasters. Some days we're up, some days we need help getting up from the bottom.

What I did learn, somewhat despondently, is that depression is a life-long disorder; there is no "cure" to be found anywhere. Symptoms can be managed by medications to alleviate extreme feelings that bring us down, but there's no "magic pill." If medications are unsuccessful, non-invasive treatments like Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, Deep-brain stimulation, ketamine and Electro-Convulsive Treatment as a last resort are available.

It's a learning journey, you have to find ways to cope on a daily basis, and that can be a b*tch sometimes, but you keep going, no matter how hopeless your future feels *in the moment*. Those times *are* temporary and take time to resolve; your brain has to go from protective mode and say, "Hey, it's not that bad today," so you can keep moving onward.

sorry for ranting, it's kinda what I do...

It's different for everyone... sometimes medication works and sometimes it doesn't..I have seen people struggle with depression their whole lives and for some it goes away after a little while..

@A MyDepressionTeam Member It depends on a lot of things. Does the person realize that they are depressed? Sometimes a person doesn't. I didn't know I was depressed when my pcp asked me. I said No. Fast forward weeks later I was in the psych hospital counting out all the things that I was depressed about. Being on medication may or may not stop the depression. It's a game to see which medication(s) work for you. That could take weeks, months or years. And while you are on anti-depressants they can stop working. This has happened to me also. After months or years the anti-depressant stops working. I also think that if you are Bi-polar the depression can be worse if you just had a manic episode. All this information provided by me in my 45 years in the mental health arena. After all those years I'm a virtual know it all about depression. I wish it weren't so.

Hope I didn't bring you down, @A MyDepressionTeam Member! It's just all I've learned after being treated for 41 years.
