I always need a fan on! Can't sleep without it. And at work, I always have a fan on me, the temperature it set way too high, but other people are cold. What's wrong with me?

Members overwhelmingly confirmed that sleeping with a fan on due to hot flashes is completely normal, with many sharing they run fans year-round, sometimes even in winter with windows cracked open, and several using multiple fans along with electric blankets to easily switch between cooling and warming. Several members found relief through hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which significantly reduced their hot flashes and night sweats, while others recommended practical solutions like portable AC units filled with ice, cooling blankets that lower body temperature by 5-7 degrees, and combining fans with weighted blankets for comfort. A recurring theme was the reassurance that perimenopause and menopause cause these temperature regulation challenges, that each person's experience is unique, and that there is absolutely nothing wrong with needing a fan to sleep comfortably.

I sleep with a fan yr round and use my electric blanket on one side of the bed as well.

I do!! Even when it's 8° out side. I have a queen size bed so I use the electric blanket. I heat one side and fan blowing so all I have to do is roll one way if I'm hot and when I get cold I roll to the other side. I have 2 Fur babies. Jiminy and Chico. Jiminy is 6. Chico will be 2 in February. 🤫

I have hit flashes from menopause and I also get hot when I have anxiety. I don't have a place next to my bed to keep a fan but I keep my ac cold. You may want to try one of those portable AC units that you fill with water and ice and put it next to your bed. My dad had one of those and they are wonderful.

I was doing that but after starting hrt I'm not. I also noticed I hardly sweat now. I can skip deodorant most of the time. When I exercise I sweat a little but a lot less than ever before in my life.
