I've been on mine for a long time now and I feel like I hit a plateau with them. They make me feel numb and there are days where I don't take them. They make me not want to leave the house and ever since I had my child I've become such a homebody. I have put some thought into this and I think I might have to bring it up to my psychiatrist, there are days where I feel so good when I'm not on the meds. I just don't want to be on meds for the rest of my life.
Hello Victoria, I honestly have just gone through the exact feeling and experience. I have been maxed out for a long time on all my meds and have reached a point where I started thinking they just aren't as effective anymore. They took me off the pins that were working because of fear of addiction. So I stopped everything for the last 3 months and didn't notice a difference, and thought I made the right decision till the end of last month I started noticing I was having mania and very short-tempered, fused also a wave of depression and anxiety swept over me I went to the ER twice but didn't want to be admitted, so the second time they told me to start taking everything I stopped and fast tracked me for the 10th of this month I am just lucky I didn't throw my old meds out. Talk to your doc I caution just stopping them it takes time for them to get out of your system then time to start working again. Sorry for the book.
Sincerely Tom
Talk with your psychiatrist, you may need a change, I been there before, and a change helped me, always let your psychiatrist know if you're having problems with your meds
Are your antidepressant medications making you feel numb and like they've stopped working?
It's completely understandable to feel frustrated when medications that once helped now seem to plateau or cause unwanted effects like feeling numb or withdrawn. Many people with depression experience this, and it's actually quite Show Full Answer
I am changing my meds now. I felt the paliperidone wasnt working for me. I always want to sleep and stay in my bed. Im hoping if this works ill have my answer. Ive tried welbutrin tp see if it was depression. It didnt help. I think it was palipaeridone. It just didnt work for me.
Hi Tom, Thank you for sharing! I promise I won't stop my medications without talking to my Psychiatrist. Its just so frustrating when I feel like my medications aren't working anymore. I def will have to bring it up to my doctor. I just feel so fatigued and the lack of motivation is real. I'm definitely in the major depressive episode and not the mania part. I haven't felt the mania in a while.
