Doug, no reason to be concerned. Funny thing is, throughout history
Sculptors and painters were sometimes porn creators. We think some of this is silly now but others took it very seriously. Ecstasy of St Teresa in Rome was scandalous. Warren cup won't be shown by British museum, Roman sexuality in art and politics was beyond anything most could imagine. Fertility cults, Roman bath frescos, Greek gay art, Marquis de Sade's writing, Kama sutra, Tantra, fertility cults...what a bit of video and bad acting?

I write fiction and used to write stories along these lines. I quit long ago and do poems, fairytales and horror but I could. Any addiction isn't good but men are basically walking procreators. Frustration can be bad, so it's probably a good outlet. But I laugh at it and don't watch. I'm a killjoy...I think disease.

I've been married 33 years but my past behaviors with bipolar haven't endeared me to that sort of trust factor. For me, the meds simply suppress need.

While the search results don't specifically address pornography use, it's important to know that many people with depression develop different coping mechanisms - some healthy and some less so. If you're concerned about your coping methods, speaking with a mental health professional can help you develop healthier strategies.

Here are some healthier coping strategies that others have found helpful:
- Regular exercise/physical activity
- Open communication with loved ones
- Consistent therapy sessions
- Maintaining daily routines
- Video games (in moderation) Remember, as Olympic champion Michael Phelps often says, "It's OK not to be OK." If you're struggling with your current coping mechanisms, reaching out to a therapist can help you develop better tools to manage your depression symptoms. They can provide personalized strategies that work specifically for your situation.

This could be considered a bit embarrassing, and while I view adult entertainment online (gets really repetitive and sometimes distasteful) occasionally, I dont believe I use it as a coping mechanism, per se.

Yes, it can be a temporary distraction, but it's nothing but another varied form of entertainment. There are those who believe they have an "addiction," I believe its often used as a sole escape from any symptoms.

And please, people, save the judgments. I've been with my wife for the better part of 45+ years, we'll be married 38 years this October. I love my wife more deeply every day and desire her intimacy just as much now as when we began having sex 44 years ago. Nothing about our relationship is affected by my online perusals.

I don't watch (and never really enjoyed) hard-core adult entertainment. I just feel I have an eye for all types of beauty and erotica.

The way my wife puts it, "Just because you're on a diet, doesn't mean you can't look at the menu."
