Why Is It That My Psychiatrist Does No Not Want To Prescribe Me ATIVAN?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I attend treatment at Gandara Center in Springfield. Dr. Renee Simone told me that I should find another provider since she was not going to prescribe me any anxiety pills. Ok she has her reasons no to prescribe BENZOS, but what about ATIVAN?
Trazadome I got to help me sleep, but without Ativan, I am still in pain, anxy, bad mood, etc

I know it's a hassle, but perhaps you should switch drs . If that's even an option for you?

Ativan is a benzo and I found it took months to withdraw from it. It is one of the most addicting med.

If you can, switch doctors. They don’t like prescribing benzos because they are so addictive, however, it’s excellent medication. If you do find (fingers crossed) a new doctor and he/she prescribes you a benzo, take them as directed, don’t get early refills. Usually the doctor sees you are disciplined with your meds and he will continue orescribing it for you.

Have you asked your current doctor if he can give you five pills or so right now that your anxiety is so acute to get you through this?
