Unfortunately it can happen at any time symptoms of depression can come back due to many reasons for example the medication may have stoped working,or the patient has recently experienced a traumatic experience in life,or the patient is experiencing a sudden negative impact in life that can trigger a relapse at any stage, it is important to recognize the symptoms of when the patient is experiencing symptoms of depression so that the patient can know when it’s time to consult with his or her doctor so that proper treatment can be applied before the situation gets worse.
Absolutely I have been on just about every antidepressant you can think of and I'm still clinically depressed. Antidepressants don't cure depression they just make it bearable and some days they don't even do that
I’ve found that some meds work for a while, but lose their potency over time. I’m going to echo the others and say depression is never cured, nor does it make you feel totally better. Mostly they make it possible to function.
@A MyDepressionTeam Member Do you find that the weight gain is from eating more? I find my appetite has increased and I’m unable to stop eating.
Yes definitely. For the past two years I've been depressed despite being on antidepressants.
Wow, just reading through what others have posted since I shared about taking Effexor & Abilify. I've certainly had weight gain also but recently lost weight through diet. Need to exercise more and having real hard time with last 10-15 lbs I want to lose. At 57 years old and survivor of 4 cancers, I won't fix what isn't broken! The Abilify helped so much after years on Effexor I virtually had the giggles for a week. String medication indeed. Good luck to everyone seeking balance.
