I am usually on a “cocktail” of several (4 or 5) medications. But after a time, they stop working. My dr plays with the dosages and it helps for a short time. It usually takes a hospitalization and ECT before a new “cocktail “ can start working.
Has anyone found an easier way to begin again?
I hope you are not really on 20. Your doctor...what is up with that. Meds are supposed to be a bandaid but they just keep prescribing.
I think sometimes exercise daily with a group you like and laugh with is better than a drug.
Through the years and through the many drugs I have taken, I have had to deal with drug poop-out several times. It’s so disheartening to go months, or even years, feeling good, and then for no good reason start feeling depressed again. My longest good run was four years on a combo of Celexa and Wellbutrin, and I was soooo disappointed when I started feeling bad again. I had thought I was cured. Yeah, right, think again. Now I’m on a combo of three drugs and I have been feeling good since March. I sure hope it lasts, because I don’t think there are many drugs out there left for me to try! I wish I had a good answer for you as far as there being a better way. I hope and pray that one day they can cure or even prevent this f*#@ing disease that has ruined so much of our lives! Good luck. You’re not alone in this.
I have called my psychiatrist office several times wanting a med check to get my meds switched and got right in.sorry your feeling bad!!😀nicole if you can’t get into your psychiatrist go to your general practitioner told what’s going on.
I used to have meds lose effectiveness after so long and I had to be hospitalized to have them changed, but they finally found one that works and I haven’t been hospitalized for depression in 6 1/2 years, and the last change in my meds was done without me having to go into the hospital.
