I have been told that I bring everything bad upon myself! I guess in my mo's eyes, others brought good upon me. Duh! I know we do not bring these things upon ourselves. Nobody says when they are growing up that they want to be depressed.

We need more education on mental illness. If it was as simple as some people think it is to get over, then this site would not exist and there would be no mental illness.
My friend used to say to me that I must like being ill or I would get up and sort my problems out. But due to illness, depression, and chronic fatigue I be lucky to get up some days. And if I did, it would be to use bathroom. After18 yrs of friendship I had to walk away. The hardest thing for me is when my boys used to think I was making it when I would cancel a visit because I was too depressed or ill. I usually put on a mask and cheers others up when they were feeling low. I would hide my problems and come home and sob my heart out. But because I am sensitive to criticism off friends there are occasions where I have not been able to hold my emotions back. There would be no empathy but ridicule. We don't choose to be depressed I wish others could try and understand this instead of sitting in judgement.
Oh, yeah. “Just chill out” “Don’t take everything so seriously.” “There are people in the world that are so much worse off than you. Some people don’t have their legs!” (WTF?!)
