A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

If you work with a support worker how do you want them to support you towards your recovery and wellness?

I like them to listen to me. Too many I feel try to give you there advice too fast. Let me tell my story. Do not tell me how I should feel. I had a very good group of people earlier this year. Very caring, considerate and straight forward as well.

I didn’t have good experience with MHW until I was able to get help as a Vet and a Vet Hosp. Until then all they wanted to do is push meds on me. At one low point I was asked if I was suicidal., well my care plan changed and I seemed to me like they were more interested in covering themselves legally, if I did something. Found myself under the care of someone that was a social worker, and no background to help. I learned at that point not to be honest about my thoughts.
