Members overwhelmingly connected over struggles with focus and memory, sharing how depression, anxiety, ADHD, medications, and stress have impacted their ability to concentrate, remember simple tasks, read books, watch movies, retain new information, and perform at work or school. Several members offered practical strategies that have helped them cope, including writing everything down in lists or calendars, using phone alarms and reminders, engaging in creative activities like painting and adult coloring books, playing brain games and memory apps, recording lectures or meetings, and in some cases working with doctors to adjust medications or add focus-supporting treatments like Adderall. A recurring theme was the frustration and fear that comes with memory loss, the relief of realizing it's a shared symptom of depression rather than early dementia, and the importance of self-compassion, accepting limitations, and finding workarounds that allow members to function despite cognitive challenges.

Yes it is soo hard for me to focus and concentrate with major depression and also going thru menopause, but I can't let that get in the way of doing what is important to me🤔

I do find it difficult to focus and concentrate when depressed and currently have 10 different projects on the go. When I get like this I find a workshop like felting and pick up my felt project and join in even though the group might be learning how to felt, I am on to the next inspiring step of how to decorate it.

If the workshop is card making I go to the workshop with my journals and scrapbooking projects and do the opposite of neat and tidy work and allow others to see new options for using the same materials. The facilatator are also inspired and don't mind.

Sometimes it helps me restart my creative style and feel I want to continue that project. Doing something your enjoy helps to focus and get yout your concentration back.

Try it yourself.

I suffer from terrible memory loss. It makes me feel so vulnerable I don't go out much. Which is detrimental to my recovery
