Unsociable Sleep Pattern
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

For a long time now I have had sleep pattern problems. I hate mornings, my mood gets low and continues through the day, if I get up nearer to afternoon, I feel better. My established pattern for at least 4 years through my depression is to sleep at 3am and get up at 11-12noon. Recently, I am overwhelmed by feelings of laziness and guilt, especially if people know. Menopause SUCKS!!! Worse thing ever! Makes bipolar 100 times worse. Is my mood because of menopause or bipolar?? Argh!!!

Since menopause I have had trouble sleeping. Depression makes it worse. But since my diagnosis of Bipolar 2 and being prescribed gabapentin for anxiety I have been getting quality sleep. I may still get up once or twice during the night but I sleep better.

I feel like a lazy bum sometimes....I have to go to bed around 8 pm in order to get up by 8 am. Yeah, 12 hours and that is crazy. But, without it I have terrible days and feel horrible. I take a medication to sleep and if I didn't I would lay there and look at the wall for hours every night. Hope you can feel better about your routine. I don't think there is anything wrong with it. We all have our own preferences and you have been on the schedule for so long it will probably be hard to change. Some people are night people. Feel Better!!
