A very good therapist on a regular basis can really help!
Both my brother and my son have similar probs to me. They both seem to stave off depression by doing things that make them happy. They are both workaholics. My son has a girl of 7 and a six month old baby, so free time is taken up also. My bro, now in his 50s fills his free time by doing triathlon. I have to admit when I'm well and working, I also become a workaholic and thrive, have boundless energy, enjoy getting up, going to work, rest & life in general. But can only sustain it for a couple of years. My job requires massive concentration and the first signs of pending (doom) is overwhelming tiredness and fear, once my concentration ceases, everything falls apart. It works for them and in part for me,
I also walk. I walk to and from work, plus I walk the sales floor. When I'm off, I still walk to keep my mind and body occupied. Lost 40 lbs, my blood pressure is 100/58 and my heart rate is 58. Some meds make one gain weight so exercise and good diet help counterbalance that. This works for me, I'm 60 and in fantastic shape. Consider this, it costs nothing.
