I'm still The Toast in certain circles
Apparently, there's a scene in the movie Diner where they ask how he's going to pay for their meal, and all the diners suggest that The Toast has all the money
When he is describing the guy they called The Toast, he says he was always working, and that's how he always had the money.
Enter Wendy, my first husband, who rarely worked, said that since I was always working, I could fund our lives.
From that point in 1985, I was always The Toast.

I've had a couple. When I was about 18 years old my mates nicknamed me Paranoid because every time we'd smoke weed together I'd get paranoid that we'd be busted by the cops. It stuck with me for some years and I wore it with pride including adopting Black Sabbath's song Paranoid as my theme song :) Then a few years later I shared a house with a gay guy who I became very close friends with. He showed me the gay scene and the nightclub he frequented, I had the best times of my life in that club. We used to drink a bit and do a variety of drugs, mainly weed though, one night we were charging up before heading off to the club and I was faffing around a bit, then out of the blue my mate says, "Settle down, Raelene". About a year later his friend from Melbourne was visiting with his partner and he asked if I had a nickname, I laughed and said Raelene, after that my name was Raelene and for the next week and a half of madness of their visit it stuck. Then about 18 months later I moved to Melbourne for a short time and stayed with the guys, nothing like having someone calling out Raelene across the baggage pick up area of Tullamarine airport at 6am. So my time in Melbourne I was known as Raelene, when I came back to Perth it got shortened to Raels and then evolved into Rails because of my party lifestyle and I was a bit Off the Rails. For many years I held that nickname and still do among a few people but nothing like it was, some people I met never knew my real name and still don't. As I was hanging on the gay scene for years I just had to have a Drag name, so Rails evolved again into Raileene Leona Konesworth. They were such great times and I miss them very much.

My husband calls me Bug but no one else does. I love bugs and am not afraid of them. Usually women and some guys scream when they see bugs or bees etc and I don't. I like to gently catch some bugs and put them in something glass so I can observe them, look up stuff online and try to identify them. I always let them go back where they were. When a bee, usually a yellow jacket (wasp), gets in the house I kind of guide it outside. My husband said I was the bee whisperer lol Most of my family call me DonnaJean. A lot of people call me DJ. My brother is a junior so he was usually called JJ so then I was DJ. When I went to the doctor last and the nurse looked at my chart he called me DJ. I really don't care and will answer to any of them. When I was little we had an elderly man that lived next door that loved me. He called me Princess. My grandfather called me that too but I didn't see him often. That must be a common thing with people of that generation. My grandmother on my dad's side called me Sugar. I think that's another (spell check turn another to a nothing lol) common name kinda like people day Darlin'.
