Members dove into the question of which comes first, depression or anxiety, with many sharing that the two feel deeply linked and often feed into each other in a painful cycle. Several members described their personal experiences, including bipolar disorder, agoraphobia, hormonal triggers, and years-long depressive episodes, with some finding relief through HRT, therapy, workbooks, and medication adjustments. A recurring theme was the exhausting emotional weight of living with both conditions, balanced by moments of warmth, humor, and strong community support.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member From what I have been told in therapy sessions, and the things i have read, Anxiety & depression seem to be a tagteam. They tend to normally come together. I know i was a very shy kid growing up (painfully shy, even), and i was also a fairly sickly kid who had a lot of restrictions, so I suppose i have had them for as long as i could remember anything, but they were never really diagnosed in children from what i understand.

My husband use to say my depression, anxiety and bipolar was like a "Rollercoaster ride from hell with Sybil at the switch!" He said I was acting like I had multiple personalities. When I think back, it feels like this has been with me my whole life, I don't know what life was like prior to this. I'm thankful that my daughter knows my diagnosis and knows when I'm spiraling out of control and need help.
