Not telling

We are working with a non profit to get our dining room fixed. We have to move things out of one of our rooms so they can put the furniture in that room but I'm worried it's not all going to fit. Our house is very small and three rooms and bathroom is around the floor that needs to be fixed. I don't know what to do with my cat. I don't have any family I can stay or want to stay with with my cat. He said it will probably take two or three days. We met with him today. I don't want to be away from… read more

I agree that breaking things down into 'baby steps' may be very helpful in alleviating some of the stress you are feeling looking at the whole task. Take it easy on yourself. Let us know how things are going. Take care.

Hi Kaye, I am so sorry that you're going through all of that! . . Is there anyway you can go to a motel for a couple of nights? . . My best peace, love, and good vibes to you . . Sam . .

That sounds genuinely overwhelming, and it makes complete sense that you're stressed. Disruption to your home and routine can hit especially hard when you're managing depression. Your feelings are completely valid.

Here are some things that might help make this feel more manageable:

- Break it into tiny steps — instead of thinking about everything at once, just focus on one small task at a time
- Talk to the nonprofit coordinator about your concerns — they may have helped others in small homes before and could have practical solutions
- Ask the coordinator directly whether leaving is truly necessary — knowing for certain either way can reduce the "what if" anxiety
- For your cat, if staying home is possible, designating one safe, quiet room for them during the work can help keep them calm and close to you

On the bathroom access concern — it's absolutely worth raising that directly with the coordinator before work begins. They should be able to give you a clearer picture of what days and times access might be limited.

You don't have to figure it all out today. One small step at a time is enough. 🐱
