Members rallied around the question of finding support when the people in your life aren't showing up for you, with many sharing the painful realization that some relationships are one-sided and not worth the emotional energy. Several members offered practical alternatives including online communities, warmlines, NAMI local support groups, therapy, journaling, ChatGPT, and even pets as meaningful sources of connection. A recurring theme was the importance of setting boundaries with fair-weather friends while leaning into self-care practices like meditation, creative outlets, and staying active around the house.

I think that's what's wrong with empaths we are always helping others and haven't anyone to look after us take it easy and don't be too hard on yourself sending hugs

Look inward! When I am unable to get support I be with Self. Whatever comes up usually is emotional so I express them to me is better because if I do not, emotions can get trapped in the body and make things worse. Meditation, chanting and stretching helps me tremendously, as well as any creative outlet.

If I cannot get support from others, I look for a secondary support like a pet. They help out more than you know even though they don’t talk.

You can only control yourself. If help is not being reciprocated then maybe you should consider dropping people from your inner circle. Just a thought.
