Many people with depression have shared positive experiences with TMS. Here's what's generally reported:
- Some notice improvements after just a few sessions, though full results often take several weeks
- It's generally well-tolerated, with mild scalp discomfort or headaches being the most common side effects
- It's typically done in a clinic, with sessions lasting around 20–40 minutes
- A newer at-home version has recently received FDA approval for people whose depression didn't improve enough with antidepressants
It's worth knowing that TMS doesn't work for everyone, and results can vary. Some people experience significant relief, while others see more modest improvements.
The best step is to speak with a healthcare provider to find out if TMS might be a good fit based on your treatment history and current symptoms. It's not usually the first treatment tried, but it can be a valuable option when other approaches haven't been enough.

I have actually, just recently.
Unfortunately for me it did not help, even after hearing such great results from some people. I'd been wanting to try hot for so long, so it was really a disappoint by the end. The sessions are now only like 4 minutes, and it was 5 days a week for a couple of months, and I was having to dry an hour each way! With this Iran conflict that clown started, it was costing about $25 a day roundtrip in gas too!
But, I think it's awesome that we are seeing new treatments available, and recommend people look into it. Medicare now covers.
