My fiancé is going into week 3 of lexapro. He said he’s feeling maybe 5% better. But he still feels so depressed and anxious. I feel awful because I know there’s nothing I can do right now. Hoping I can share others experiences with him to help him feel motivated to keep taking the meds and letting them start to work.
@A MyDepressionTeam Member, I was told it takes about a month to work. I just started an antidepressant last night. Good luck!
Hi, it takes awhile, up to a month or more, for antidepressants to kick in so that you begin to feel better, of course, Brielle, so please encourage your friend to try to keep taking his meds daily. . My best peace, love, and good vibes to you both . . Sam. .
I have suffered most of my life @A MyDepressionTeam Member with depression. So many different meds I have taken. I have learned it is no measured timeframe. And it takes meds, life activities, diet and self care to make a difference. Yes please do your part encouragement. Be patient and take it one day at a time.
If not maybe he needs to speak to who manages his meds and go up in dose or change his medicine . Not one treatment for all people with the same condition. I would encourage you to educate yours and himself as much as possible about his diagnosis and what his options are so him and you can take control over his treatment and ask the provider about other potential medications or therapies you think he would benefit most from or are most comfortable with doing etc… or even change your doctor if you feel it’s not a good fit. Don’t feel he’s trapped taking a medication that may not be the right “cocktail” his particular brain/body needs. Best of luck! Sending heart healing energy your way!
Step back and ask yourself if you see any change in him ; it’s been my experience that someone close to me (my mother) usually sees some small change in my behavior before I do when starting a medicine.
