hello
I am really looking for friends. ive tried on here a couple of times and it failed. I know this is a great site to talk about our issues or medication but I would really like to find someone or even a couple people to talk to privately just to check in on each other or talk about our day. i tried a couple years ago about sending cards out to other people and the person that was supposed to work with me never did. I sent out letters and i responded but i never really got a card back.

Members warmly responded to someone seeking genuine friendships and pen pals after previous attempts at connection had fallen through, with many expressing interest in participating despite shared anxieties about disappearing during depression episodes or worrying they might burden others. Several members offered to connect via Facebook, with one creating a public group specifically for ongoing communication, while others discussed the value of checking in on each other regularly rather than maintaining superficial online friendships. A recurring theme was the deep loneliness many experience alongside the fear of reaching out, met with understanding and encouragement from others who recognized those same patterns in themselves and wanted to build more authentic connections.

How can you build meaningful connections on MyDepressionTeam?

It takes courage to reach out for connection, especially when past attempts haven't worked out. Your honesty about wanting genuine friendships is refreshing, not demanding at all.

Here are some ways to build connections on MyDepressionTeam:

* Add members to your team who share similar experiences or interests
* Send direct messages to members whose posts resonate with you
* Tag members in your responses using their username (like "Hi @A MyDepressionTeam Member")
* Give likes or send hugs to show support on posts
* Share updates about your day, your cats, or anything that matters to you

Building your support team is flexible - you can connect with as many or as few people as feels right. Some members connect over shared symptoms or treatment experiences, while others bond over similar interests or sense of humor.

When reaching out, consider starting small. Comment on posts that speak to you, share your own experiences, and let connections develop naturally. A MyDepressionTeam member shared that having friends who understand depression means they "won't be bothered by hearing about your illness at all because they know that an illness doesn't define the person we are."

Your desire for emotional connections and honest communication is something many members share. Keep posting, keep reaching out, and remember that meaningful friendships often take time to develop.

I can do here. Upon a time up to about 5 years ago I would hand write 5+ pages and snail mail. I moved
Ed away from that why a dear friend vanished. I think she remarried and didn't want her communicating with an American man no matter how benign or far away 10,000km). That's ok because her relationships at home always came first. Just vanished, without a word. Still stings but I understand what likely happened and even told her once I understood if it did happen.

Internet only goes so far and we laugh at fb accounts with 100's or thousands of 'friends'. I have started checking up on people more so I like the idea
