Not telling

I really hate being touched. It really just bugs me so much. One time one of my mom's friends. I had never really met this women, the only reaction I had with her was her being nasty with me when I put my items on the belt for her to ring up when the guy in front of me was almost done. She was very rude to me and she touched me and it freaked me out so bad What made her think she could do this? I also don't care for talking and she talked so much. Once when I went in the store I saw it was her… read more

@A MyDepressionTeam Member thank you for trying not to be offensive. I didn't say I don't like being touched at all. It depends on the person. I didn't mind hugging friends and I love hugs from my nephew. However for the most part I don't. I don't trust people a lot so that could be it.

Thanks, MistaMatt. Some of us have not been so fortunate as to have been comforted as much as threatened by it. And body memory is instantaneous, not allowing us to think about who or why, but only *that*.

Know that perspective is not as much choice as reaction to previous experience with touch. Just as emotional boundaries must be respected, physical ones are equally deserving. Gone is the day when custom outweighs sovereignty, regardless of custom's beneficence to some.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member, thank you for both responding kindly and explaining better to me. I can't help but admit that my general trust in mankind seems to be dwindling as days' go by, but I grasp at the last vestiges of humanity when I can shake someone's hand, put my hand on their shoulder and even a hug when the situation expressly demands one of my good ones because it seems like so many people just...aren't there anymore. Touch is how we express safety and compassion to each other. I'm not telling you what to do, Kaye, but I might be trying to recruit another into believing that some hope for people still exists.

Take care!
