When someone is diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder is it correct even when they may have had long stretches of time when they were not depressed in between the depressive episodes even when not medicated?

Hi, I have been diagnosed with MDD, GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder), PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Bipolar Disorder type 2, and SUD (Substance Abuse Disorder) and am on antidepressants, i.e. cymbalta. . My depression, I believe, has been with me since my early childhood and I just turned 69 on January 15th, Faustina. . I have had many ups and downs throughout my life and I believe that underneath it all has been a constant thread of many feelings and moods that are common to humans and many feelings and moods and mood swings that are common to those of us who were traumatized during our formative years. . May God bless you, my dear friend, and I am sending you my best peace, love, and good vibes, and please don't hesitate to reach out to me at any time whether to help me, to ask for help, or to to share with me anything you'd like to in the moment. . Cool Cat. .

Major depressive disorder is not ongoing with treatment. It usually comes and goes. I dont know how it works without treatment. It really depends on triggers and life circumstances that can agitate the condition and bring you into depression.
