When You Are Very Depressed, What Do You Do To Get Out Of It?

My therapist wants me to think of ways to get out of a depression funk other than the way I've been doing it, which is by self harm.

That's the thing for me, I have hard time catching my depression until it's a 15000000 out of 10 depressed. Then I go down the bad pathway. I do have 988 in my phone in case I need to call.

Sometimes, I wallow in it! I give myself a time limit - just 5 or 10 minutes - and let the tears loose. I even put on some angsty music and yell or sing the words, or scream (into a pillow). The time limit is key.

It’s very hard to get out of my depressive mood. I get angry quickly which causes problems in my relationship. Usually once I break down crying I’m finally getting closer to being brought back up if I’m being supported which isn’t often.
