The only times I've been on medication before was years ago, on Prozac, and last year I tried that Genesight test, which tells you what medication (supposedly) is right for you. The medication it prescribed was horrible. I'm going directly to a psychiatrist this time, to hopefully get it right.

Discuss side effects and if the Drs patients have had success with the med. Also, ask about combinations of meds.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member He should have told you it was way expensive. Call him back and request another drug. There are tons of them. Give him another chance. Annie

@A MyDepressionTeam Member Good luck with your appt with the psychiatrist. That's good that you could get an appt with one and hopefully you'll like him/her. Just be prepared to tell your story to the psychiatrist. He/she will decide what medicine would be best for you. You might want to think about if you have any limits in what medication you get. For instance: Nothing that will cause me to gain weight? Not a brand new drug - perhaps not covered by insurance. Things like that. And of course the list of what you have tried.

I already have a message in to him. This is getting all to common though. A maintenance inhaler I've taken for asthma for decades is now suddenly almost $300 a month. One that my doctor suggested in its place ended up being almost $400 a month. And this is on insurance. Amazing.

Well, I saw the psychiatrist. He wrote a script for Trintellix. Sent the script to Walgreens, was told it would be $572. With insurance. No thank you.
