How Do Deal With Side Effects?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I started Celexa 3 weeks ago while going off Effexor. First two weeks I didn’t have any side effects but the last few days I feel like I have the flu but with no fever and nothing gives me any relief...not pain killers or anti nausea meds. My doctor is off this week. My pharmacist said to try to stay on the meds as the sick feeling may pass. Does anyone with similar experience have any advice for me?

First week I was taking 10mg of Celexa with 150mg of Effexor, then 20mg of Celexa with… read more

My flu like symptoms have subsided! Ya!!!

I’ve suspected that the frequency of my hot flashes have increased since i’ve been on Celexa...but I wasn’t sure but now that you mention it...I’m pretty sure it’s the Celexa causing it ☹️ I hope they also subside

I've been feeling the same way with the cymbalta I was prescribed. I seriously described it the exact way you did- flu without fever. I'd read that the side effects might fade after a couple of weeks, but they didn't for me. So, when I went back to my doctor this week he decided to wean me off the cymbalta and try something new. I never felt this way when I took effexor or celexa, but I can totally sympathize with what you're going thru. I guess we all respond to these meds in different but similar ways... if that makes any sense! 😊 You may just need to try a different med. For me, I felt worse than before with all the side effects bc not only am I battling depression, but now I'm feeling physically horrible. It increased my sense of hopelessness. The best our doctors can do is guess and check and try different meds until they find what works best for each of us. It's frustrating, but it's the best they can do for now. God, bless you!
