Who Is So Insecure That Any Shift Of Someone's Tone, You Feel Like They Are Mad At You And Hate You?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

It happens a lot to me. I am a very insecure person, and I'm not perfect, so especially at work, if I hear my boss' tone changing just a little, I feel like I did something wrong. It escalates my anxiety and I get so tensed up I feel like I wanna die!

Even personal, if a friend of mine just talks less than usual or just sounds not in a good mood, I always feel like the fault lies with me.

Anyone feel like that? How do you manage it?

Yes I feel this way a lot some say I wear my emotions on my sleeve! all I know is what I’ve learned I have no control over someone else’s response or feelings I only have control over my own! Sometimes it’s hard for me to say anything because they comment and say oh that’s not how I was being why do you always think negative! Also I gotta think how this other person maybe feeling thinking of conversation before hand because it’s good to know it may be not always about me! Also check your response how you were feeling at the time taking a deep breath giving your response your all!! If the person still responds negatively maybe take sum time for yourself and know you tried your best!! Sometimes I say I’m sorry you feel that way and leave it go !!

I don't know if it's insecurity for me. I just take things that are said or done to me extremely personal, for example if you jokingly call me crazy i think of the worst(off ramp and go left very fast) i will ask myself if i may have done somethin to make you see me like that, are my clothes or make clown looking? In other words what should i change for you to accept me. I wouldn't have known this by the way if it wasn't for an ex friend of mine. We (she) got into really bad. I just apologised just so she would shut up. It's because it takes a while for me to react. She did tell me that i take things personally. She was right but it doesn't mean that she was right about everything else, i also realised i didn't need that kind of person in my life. It maybe an insecurity but this why we should apply the "i don't give a sh!t attitude"

Even if someone's tone doesn't change, my mind has a way of convincing myself that they no longer like me and that I'm a burden unto others. Then I end up shutting down and closing off from the people I care about or just getting mad at them and they have no idea why but it all makes perfect sense in my head.

It's quite burdensome.
