What things do you do to take your mind off of it, or calm your thoughts?

Amber, I have been having similar thoughts lately. One of the things that works best for me is drinking cold water. Drink it slowly. Feel the coolness going down your esophagus and into your stomach. I find this to be very grounding.
Another thing that helps me is sitting in a chair, closing my eyes and take a few deep breaths. Slow your breath down. Then do a body scan. Feel your toes on your left foot. Then the bottom of your foot.
Move slowly up the left side of your body and then down the right side. Then move up the center of your body from your groin, up over your head and down to your butt
Take your time. Relax each part of your body as you focus on it

Hope this helps

I make sure I'm away from any object that could hurt me and usually just sit it out because I can't muster the energy to do anything anyway. I'm not very good with coping with mental illness, and I often think about death. But when I'm able to do something, I usually write about what I'm feeling and thinking about. I write journal entries and poems. I go on YouTube and watch videos of poems and lectures on mental illness, or watch videos of my favorite YouTubers. I also try thinking of grounding thoughts (they don't do much for me but I do it anyways): "If I die, then I won't be able to _____." Those are my healthy coping mechanisms. I won't talk about the unhealthy ones I do because I don't want to give anyone any bad ideas.

I try to find something that I can do for somebody else. Or I do piano therapy to get my frustrations Out.
