Yes every woman can decide. I will tell you eugenics movement played a number on all of our heads. It is good to be a mother and to love your children. You will know when you are ready. Just make sure you pick a partner who loves dogs.

I feel the same way .. im terrifed that ill mess them up like me and i just cant stand that i wouldnt want anyone to be like me .

I definitely share your fear of having children while suffering from depression, especially after learning about the emotional impact a depressed parent can have on a child and how this affects their overall development. I guess for me, it's the fact that I don't think it will be fair for my son or daughter to be born into a broken family. I believe that I am incapable of raising a child because I have so many insecurities of my own and I fear I might pass this suffering on to my child... that would not be fair on him/her either.

However, there are other reasons that are fueling my fear and driving my decision not to have children one day. It is simply out of the question for me but it might not be for you. Every woman reserves the right to choose to procreate or not and if you feel it's not for you then that's okay. However, I agree with Cat, if you have a good support system that can help you raise the child and provide that extra emotional support then you have nothing to worry about.
