It seems like when i take Melatonin to help me sleep i go through wild exhausting dreams and nightmares...
Does anyone else have this happen?
I've taken it before and what I was told is that you should take it just before sundown as it enhances the natural process of the sleep cycle. I was told to give it 2 to 3 weeks to really start seeing the benefits with sleep patterns. It definitely made me drowsy whenever I took it and did help with sleep. But being that it affects sleep patterns I can understand why you're having those types of dreams. I imagine it has to do with going in and out of REM sleep, the period in which we dream.
I take melatonin 10mg at night plus my antidepressant Remeron 30mg and I’m sleeping better than I have at any time in my life. I retired from my very stressful job as an ICU RN in March. Last week I got the great news that Social Security has determined I am disabled due to my depression and other mental health issues so I am getting my full check at 60 instead of having to wait until I’m 65. This has taken a huge weight off my mind. I can relax and take care of myself for the first time in 39 years. I am glad I didn’t give up before the miracle happened. Thanks be to God and all the good people that have come into my life. I am truly blessed.
It gives me crazy nightmares so I stopped taking it. My Dr prescribed Trazodone and that works much better for me.
I quit taking melatonin because of the nightmares and the exhaustion from the nightmares and dreams.
I already have vivid violent dreams! Melatonin makes it worse!! I have sleeping issues on most days. The more active i was during the day the less likely i will have such dreams!!
