Has Anyone Come Off Effexor (or Another Ssri Or Snri )quickly?
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm in hospital and they pdoc is making dramatic changes to my meds. I'm being taken off effexor quickly to switch to an old tricyclic and I'm worried about the withdrawal. They say it won't be too bad butI've read in online forums it can be hellish.
What have any of folks experienced??

@A MyDepressionTeam Member. It's Thursday here so 4 u Wednesday ur day of breaking loose!! Stay stong in mind & body, deep breath's my friend.

Hav u tuched base wif a MH support group in ur neck of the woods?? If not it i believe would be good 4 u, no judgment as every1 is deal'n wif the pesky headspace critters.

Mark told me yesterday that everytime he has 2 go in2 hospital he dusn't know how he survives as wen u need 2 be on ur own others are up in ur grill, i actually thought of u & ur reference 2 "Mad House".
I really hope ur Mental Health hospital has dun it's duty of care & put in place appropriate referrals 4 u including a Mental Health support group.

All the best Harry, ARMS AROUND U mate.

That is part of the challenge. All of my family is either very old, passed on, in Montreal or housebound. Housing here is very tough to find so I took an apartment in an unfamiliar part of the city where I know no one(Toronto is a big city) I see friends when I can but isolation and loneliness are a big challenge 4 me. I really have to go to lengths to not be al9ne 2 much

@A MyDepressionTeam Member. Maple leaf i went a few yrs bak 2 a huge world wide conference in Hobart & one of the huge seminars was on "Surf'n the net" 4 a Dx. Darl'n i get u want/need answers NOW, but sadly whilst Docs can giv u statistics on "wot is" & "wot will" etc every1 is different, i know that is not wot u want 2 hear. Clearly Harry ur stronger than wot u believed, ok urve had the skin crawlies & the odd Ativan BUT ur still here & clearly want 2 be - WOOHOO 2 u mate!! Ur mak'n positive steps just a tad slow 4 ur liking :) Hang in there, chill out wif music, woteva, keep urself in the "I'm going make this work mode" Travel well Maple Leaf, HOOROO & Toodles Mandy MOO :)

Far out the amt of Lorazepam ( Ativan) i gave, not just as a pre-med but 4 the nausea 4 our Cancer pt's, i truly couldn't count, BUT i believe, yes another Benzo - Diazepam is more effective during the washout period switching from a SSRI 2 a very old Tricyclic!! Hang in there mate, sadly u need 2 ride this hellish rollercoaster, BUT hey ur a strong dude, look how far urve cum!! I'm sumwot humbled from ur Huggles, thanx & rite bak atcha & then sum!!

I had to slowly wean myself off Effexor by cutting the powder inside the capsules in half over several days. You cannot just abruptly stop SSRI’s without having side effects that feel like a bad case of the flu.
