Oh wow! Panic attacks are horrible. I have them bad. I will wake up and sit straight up in the bed wide awake. I can feel the adrenaline pulsing through me. My autonomic nervous system is on overload. It’s so not healthy. When that happens I’m up for the rest of the nite. I seriously need to find a way to control this problem without being medicated for it.
I have been told by several people that meditation is the cure for this. I plan to learn how to do this. It will be hard to keep my mind still long enough to do this but I understand there is a way to quiet these thoughts. This may be the answer to this problem. Have you tried it? I am going to for certain.

@A MyDepressionTeam Member , you're most welcome. I hear you.

It can be tough waking up from those. Let alone, going back to sleep. There are days I get maybe 2-4 hours of sleep, because I'd panic before I dreamt and was scared to dream.

I usually wake up asking, "Where am I?" Anyways, as odd as it sounds, which gives me the moment of being able to remind myself that hey, I'm in my bed, etc. So, touching things, like my pillow, blanket, etc., even in the dark, helped me a lot.

I moved around a lot and my days blend together, so I've gotten used to waking up to this. It's creating a grounding technique and something that can be done in a panic while not having to talk, but giving the space of hey, this is where I am.

I try to breath in and out, or I just get up and listen to music and after it has pasted try to go sleep.

I sometimes sit up sharply or scream. I turn over and try to go back to sleep again. I find cuddling into my pillow helps.....
