I also endured ECT with a three month hospitalization and treatments 3x/ week. Maintenance treatment was performed by a physician who had no contact with his patients and outpatient day was not unlike my veterinarian who had a day for neutering the animals, just line them up and get it done. No how are you feeling nothing and my muscle memory kicked in which meant that I had to be sedated before the treatments could begin in the waiting room. I endured over 48 + treatments and when I canceled the last appointment I never heard back from the doctor. He showed no compassion or kindness. Being confined in a hospital without music, books, physical activity is not therapeutic but I could color in a coloring book. Not a helpful environment.
My psychiatrist is excellent but she can’t erase my pain and I despise living in Denver but I can’t leave until I have teeth. Living without a support system and existing in poverty = why live ?
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation! A newer treatment for difficult to treat depression
