I am 19 which is quite young I understand, but whenever I try to talk to someone about being depressed or how I have a mental illness a lot of people just say I am being over dramatic when I have been diagnosed by a psychiatrist and have been admitted before. Why don't people believe me? Is it just cause of my age?
nah its not your age at all people don't see Depression as a illness they think like OH just get over it! its not that easy better said than done. When the world realizes that depression is a true illness then they will start doing something.
well now we have all the ears we need hun.
I feel that way with my family they tell me suk it up
Unfortunately i think the stigma behind depression and mental illness is still a problem which doesn't help such as myself and others. I want to tell my employer and colleagues i have depression but feel i would be judged so just put my mask on and carry on pretending i'm fine. I hope one day we can all be open and not be judged.
Depression is something that other people can't see. If you have a broken leg or something, people can see it. They don't understand what they do see.
