Manic Depressive
A MyDepressionTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been in bed for two days w depression, I feel like a yo- yo w my new psych. She has tried vistaril, Zoloft,Valium, lunsta and lamectal. I feel WORSE AND MORE DEPRESSED....Between the lamectal and zoloft I have been eating nonstop, I don't know which med is causing it. Someone plzzzzz tell me what's good for bipolar and anxiety ????? I feel desperate.

Lithium saved me after years of trying everything else. I can manage on it. I lost weight on lithium at first, and after 10 years I still weigh less than I did while taking other drug cocktails. I also takezoloft and a small amount of lamictal but my psychiatrist is switching me to Latuda.

I am bi-polar, & am taking 300 mg wellbutrin, 1200 mg. of Gabipentin, & 5 mg. of prozazin. I was able to function for the most part, but still had days in bed, no desire to do anything, & couldn't find pleasure in any activities I used to enjoy. My Dr added 2 mg. of Rexulti, a booster, oh my gosh, within 4 days I was feeling fantastic! And still do. After being on so many combinations of meds., this finally worked! Talk to your Dr & see if Rexulti would be an option for you. It literally saved my life!

I too suffer Bi Polar and am on a cocktail of medication including antidepressants, antipsychotic and mood stabiliser. It appears to me
that all antipsychotic drugs cause weight gain. Believe me I've tried and tested quite a few. Am now on olanzapine, which works well for me but hate the weight gain

Because of this side effect I am on a self imposed starving spree. Doesn't seem to make much difference

I do think my weight would be controlled without the medication. But my mental health would suffer.

Feel it's a no win situation

Lamictal was the one of top 3 medications I was on EVER! The worst side effects for gaining weight to messing with my vision so bad I could not see properly to horrible blood work.
There are so many different medications out there. You might be on to may medications also. PlEASE do not stop taking them though...you could throw yourself into medication withdrawal which is worst then what your going through right now.
Make an emergency appointment with your doctor. If you need an advocate, someone who knows you and what your going through, someone that can speak on your behalf. Then PLEASE do that. YOU need to take care of YOU right now, no matter what!

I have anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder. My doctor put me on lexapro and it's been helping.
