I have been prescribed Fluoxetine after being on Citalopram for 9 years! I am not sure that it works for me: My mood changes so much and so suddenly nowadays and I don't really remember Citalopram having that effect on me. I seem unable to control my mood. I am also battling alcohol dependence. I'm not supposed to drink at all. I go weeks without it, and then wham, the compulsion wins again.
After a binge I feel extremely guilty and depressed for days. I'm on Zoloft, and I know I'm not supposed to drink on it.
I'm thinking of you in our lonely battle.
Alcohol is a depressant. Also, after awhile it no longer makes you feel better. My last drunk (1998) I sipped down a pint of brandy in 45 minutes and I the room was spinning, I was extremely staggering, and the booze had stopped easing the bad feelings. I got sober and that helped with the problems that alcohol was causing.
Next off (2009) I quit smoking, which is another substance that exacerbates depression.
Now when I depression gets the better of me I sleep a lot more. I start to feel better after three days of extra sleep.
It's not easy but a matter of how sick and tired my old crutches made me feel.
I did lots and lots of meds pills pills booze. Pot for forty years two and s half sober
it may cancel it out since one is a depressant nd the other is an upper so it might cancel it out. but thats just what i heard from psychology class
One should not really drink when taking any psyciayric tablet. You need to go see your psychiatrist again.
