Okay so I've self harmed again, and I've told my parents but now I'm getting the if your grandparents find out it will break them apart they will be so upset and my Aunty is asking if I had ever thought about self harming and my mother said no
I also had my parents say if I cut again they going to section me and it's making me annoyed and I don't want to talk or open up to them because of it
I feel like a failure and a disappointment to everyone that's how it makes me feel
If selfharm has become a very impulsive thing for you then ask for help in my opinion. Cutting is dangerous, even if it isn't deep (of course even more so if it is though). It isn't something that you should to try to deal with by yourself. And if you don't feel comfortable talking to your parents about it then you have to find someone else, whether it is someone you know, or online help, or professional help.
Try to help your parents understand, they are probably worried and don't know how to help you.
You aren't a failure! You haven't failed at anything. The only way you can fail is if you don't try to get better, but you are trying :) which is awesome.
And I have been sectioned, one time voluntarily and the other time not. It isn't fun but it will probably help you get better ♥
Thank you all for your reply I haven't self harmed in two weeks, and I gave my mother some links for her to read
@A MyDepressionTeam Member I'm sorry love but that comment really is not helpful.
A young person reaching out for help does not need to be encouraged to hide herself more.
It may seem a good idea for you, but it is just avoiding a deep seated agony further.
I feel for you.
and I'm not being mean. Its just not constructive.
I found out my eldest daughter was a cutter. She told me eventually you stop even tho the urge is still there when you find something constructive to do that you have to use your hands and mind. Parents should encourage not degrade a young person when they do this. Maybe why their so harsh is because their own demons will be exposed instead of communicating. I want you to find a mirror look into it and say I'm beautiful, strong, amazing, fabulous, talented, worth life, awesome, in your mind tell yourself I'm not art-work, I'm a masterpiece , too fantabulous to be carving on my body. My daughter said she had someone to encourage her also.
Sounds like your parents are using a guilt trip in order to control your self harming. That's really crappy to do that. The only person who can control you is you along with the help of your therapist. Work with this person to determine triggers and what you can do to stop them. My best to you.😙
